RACE WINNING PERFORMANCE FROM BIRELART

The Birelart South Africa official team had a good outing at the fifth round of the KZN Regional Championship, held at iDube this past weekend (28 July 2019), claiming a total of 7 overall podium finishes.

Mattao Mason enjoyed fantastic results in Bambino, qualifying on pole position and winning the first heat. He continued his winning ways, claiming victory in race two and finishing 2nd in the final heat. Mattao took first overall for the day.

It was a relatively tough weekend for Dhiven Naidoo in Micro Max and his winning streak has come to an end, thanks to the Northern Regions drivers who were using the weekend as a test session. Dhivyen qualified on the third row of the grid, but had a good first heat, crossing the finish line in 3rd place. He claimed 2nd in heat two and took another podium in the final race. Dhivyen ended the day 3rd overall. The visiting drivers won’t score points in this regional championship though, so the results are superficial.

Matthew Morrell put in a solid day’s racing in Mini Max, qualifying in 2nd place and finishing all three heats in the silver spot. He finished 2nd overall for the day and will be feeling confident ahead of the upcoming national.

Jordan Brooks dominated Junior Max, qualifying on pole position and winning all three races. This hat trick earned him the number one spot for the day.

Shrien Naidoo walked away from the weekend with a good points haul in Senior Max. He set the fastest qualifying lap and won the first two races. The third heat was, however, more challenging and Shrien crossed the finish line 5th. His results were still good enough for first overall for the day.

Connor Donovan had a difficult start to the weekend, only setting the 6th fastest lap time during qualifying. He finished 5th in the first race and sixth in the second. Connor left his best performance for the final heat, where he won the race. This gave Connor 3rd overall for the day.

Dominic Lincoln qualified 5th in DD2, but had a difficult first heat, finishing 8th. He recovered to finish 4th in heat two and dropped down to 6th in the final race. Dominic finished 6th overall.

Liam Crystal had a baptism of fire in his first DD2 outing with the team. He qualified 7th, but failed to finish the first heat. He progressed to 15th in heat two, before turning more than a few heads with a 7th place finish in the last race. He claimed 9th overall for the day.

Bradley Liebenberg qualified 2nd and finished 2nd in all three races. He took 2nd overall for the day.
